William Carey (1761-1834) Baptist preacher and one of the first Protestant missionaries. He is considered one of the fathers of modern missions. Carey was one of the founders of the Baptist Missionary Society. He established a missionary station in Serampore, India, where he translated the Bible into Bengali, Sanskrit, and other languages.
